Parenting is so hard because it brings us face-to-face with aaaaalll of our triggers & unmet expectations. The driving force behind why I do this work is that it is ripe with OPPORTUNITY to work on our “stuff.” The world needs more of this and what better place to start than when welcoming a new person into our world?
When we are faced with not being in control and not getting what we bargained for we are forced to grow or be miserable. There isn’t one right way for us or anyone else and part of my job is to normalize that all of the changes, worries, frustrations, and unknowing are a part of becoming a new parent and part of why parenting is so hard.
So, if you are preparing to welcome a new little one, currently in the throes of newborn life, or have moved on to the toddler years or beyond, know that I am with you riding the waves of worry and joy, frustration and delight and that it’s all part of it.
One of the best ways I have found to move through these times is to surround myself with other parents, teachers, groups, and communities who are comfortable riding these waves along with me. It is good medicine and helps us find our way.
If you need support figuring out what this means for YOU, you can book a lactation or sleep consultation, sign up for Middle Road Musings to get a monthly dose of TLC in your inbox or follow me on Instagram.
Until Next Time,
Jen
